Put in its simplest terms we use all our skills and treatments to help you on the road to recovery. We do this using a very simple process.
Our highly experienced chartered physiotherapists will conduct a thorough assessment to identify the source of your pain and also importantly why it is painful. This will involve an in depth discussion about your symptoms as well as a physical examination.
We will then discuss your injury with you and talk about a treatment plan based on best practice, evidence based medicine and experience. This means we talk through what the problem is, what type of treatment you may need, how long the problem is likely to take to resolve and how many sessions it may take to help you fully recover.
The techniques we use to treat you may include joint mobilisation and manipulation, soft-tissue massage techniques and exercise therapy. Exercise therapy could consist of pilates based exercise regimes, core stability, strengthening, stretching and aquatic physiotherapy. To maximise this hands-on and exercise based approach, our team will also spend time educating you about your problem so that you become empowered and actively involved in your own recovery and can feel like you are managing your injury and not the injury dictating your limitations.
Not only do we want you to recover from this episode as quickly as possible, we also want you to understand your problem, the reason why you have the problem and minimise the risk of any recurrence.
In order to help us achieve our goal for your recovery we sometimes require help from other healthcare professionals. As our team have worked across central Scotland for more than 10 years we know a wide range of other physiotherapists, sports physicians, surgeons, podiatrists, chiropractors, massage therapists, strength and conditioning coaches, pilates instructors and yoga instructors. We are happy to refer you to any of these colleagues should we feel it help you achieve optimal recovery.
As well as individual treatment we also offer a range of small in-house classes. These classes could help you learn more about your body and your particular weak spot utilising techniques such as core stability, yoga, clinical Pilates and stretching whilst also learning about long term fitness and well-being. We like to think this is a great investment and preventative tool to avoid you being back with us again for physiotherapy quite so soon!
If you have any questions about what physiotherapy involves or if you are in any doubt if it is the right thing for you then please contact us and one of our team will be happy to talk to you.
